Gearing Up for Sicily

Greetings Fellow Mummy Studies Enthusiasts!

We are busy preparing for our summer 2016 Sicily Mummy Studies Field School and we are getting increasingly excited about the adventure to come. The school will be held  from July 22nd through August 6th in Sicily. Students will get to experience the rich and unique culture of the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea while learning all about the scientific study of mummies. The school will be filled with lectures and demonstrations about mummy studies from a team of international scholars with expertise in a range of topics related to working with mummies. (See the bios for our team of instructors here.)

Our U.S. students met together as a group last Friday to get to know one another over pizza and discuss travel logistics. We have nine students from two different universities (University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Wesleyan University) representing a range of departments: Anthropology, Biology, Forensic Science, and Political Science.

We are all looking forward to the inaugural Sicily Mummy Studies Field School this summer! Be sure to check back with us here to read stories about our students and instructors as we journey to Sicily to engage in the fascinating and exhilarating world of mummy studies.
